When something you buy is broken or stolen, it shouldn't be your problem. That's why if you use your Card for eligible purchases, they can be protected from accidental damage or theft for up to 90 days from the moment you buy them.
If you try to return an eligible item within 90 days from the date of purchase and the merchant won't take it back, American Express may refund the full purchase price, up to $300 per item.

I genuinely tell my friends and family this is hands down the best card. My rewards, perks, and the instant customer service I get cannot be touched. I have been a Platinum Card Holder for almost three years, and I wish I would have had it sooner. American Express already has a level of customer service second to none, but Platinum Card Members get the royal treatment.

American Express is the best card in my wallet. Mot only is it a prestigious card but the benefits are great. Membership Rewards is great. Ameican Express Travel is great and travel benefits valuable. Great events created by American Express and always enjoy the flexibility of the card---pay with credit, points---pay balance in full or travel can be paid off over time.

I especially love being able to benefit the airline perks of this Amex Platinum. It also keeps my balance in check without carring a huge balance each month.Love the card!!
The benefits are definitely not quite worth the hefty annual fee and often the card is not accepted in several areas/merchants that I find it devalues the card even more.
The AmEx Travel staff is fantastic. They calmly and competently dealt with some major crises- cancelled cruises and flights- and went above and beyond to assist my family.
I have been a loyal cardmember since 1992 and have enjoyed the stellar service and exceptional travel-related benefits that come with the Card. I recently took a new job that requires weekly domestic travel (yes, i am a road warrior) and the upgrade to Platinum has made the travel as pleasurable as can be expected given the challenges we all face while on the road.

For each conversion of points into the Frequent Flyer program of a U.S. airline, a fee of $0.0006 per point, with a maximum fee of $99, will be charged to your Card account. We charge this fee to offset the federal excise tax we must pay on such conversions. The fee may be more or less than the actual amount of the excise tax we pay on any individual conversion. To receive statement credits of up to $200 a year toward incidental air travel fees, Card member must enroll and choose a qualifying airline at www.americanexpress.com/airlinechoice.
